The mission of Supply Sacks is to provide a backpack or duffel bag filled with clothes, personal care items, toiletries, school supplies, toys, and basic necessities to every one of the thousands of children who come into foster care through the many DSS offices in the state. We are also working with many states around the country to make this a national project that will benefit every foster child coming into care across America.

 

We are an ALL Volunteer Organization

Supply Sacks is nonprofit and volunteer run. Please contact us to assist us in our mission. You could enlist the help of your local schools, Boy & Girl Scouts, senior centers, churches, men's and women's clubs, businesses, private or civic groups. Join us in making Supply Sacks a success story for every child in foster care.

There are many ways to help, such as:

·          Donating cash or materials — collecting donations — delivering donations

·          Sorting/packing clothing — sorting other items — packing/labeling bags

·          Delivering filled packs

·          Spread the word, tell people you know about Supply Sacks

Please think about people in your community that might be willing to help by sponsoring a drive, putting up flyers, putting out a collection box or making a donation.

Clothing Items

Items should be new or nearly new only

·          Clothes for all ages, with emphasis on ages 9-17

·          Clothes for all seasons - shirts, sweaters, pants, sweatsuits, shorts, tank tops and t-shirts

·          All sizes: regular, slim, husky, plus

·          Hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, jackets, raincoats, belts

·          Pajamas, slippers, sneakers, shoes, boots

·          Socks and underwear are desperately needed (bras too)

 

Personal Care Items

Include cultural items, needs of children of color

·          Diapers and wipes, feminine hygiene products

·          Toothbrushes and toothpaste, floss, mouthwash

·          Shave cream, razors, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel or soap, deodorant, body lotion, wash and dries, nail clippers, wash cloth and towel, travel kleenex

·          Brush and comb, hair clips, ties, barrettes, hand sanitizer, travel bag or case

Skin & Hair care products for children of color, ethnicly appropriate products

 

Items below should be new or in very good condition:

Small reading or story books, magazines, activity or crossword books, puzzle or sticker books, coloring books, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, colored pencils, pads of paper, notebooks, glue sticks, sharpeners, erasers, Mini Magna Doodle or Etch-a-Sketch, arts and crafts, Legos

Small toy items: Matchbox cars, action figures, guy and cycle, mom and baby in carriage, Mini Transformers, Barbies, Beanie Babies, magnetic mini games, key chain games, handheld games with batteries, any items that don't require additional parts

·          Tags and large Ziploc-type bags for clothes

·          Big plastic bins with covers to store items

·          Large, contractor's black plastic bags for materials

·          Plastic or metal shelving for organizing items

*A box truck or enclosed vehicle to make pick ups and deliveries*

For Foster Families

·          Beds, bureaus, bed linens

·          Cribs, basinettes, portacribs

This organization was created by my sister, Theresa McNulty.  She is the mother to 5 adopted children, through the Massachusetts social services dept.  All of her children have special needs, and yet she finds the time to think of others!  She created this single handedly, and now, with the help of her family, and volunteers, it looks like supply sacks will soon become affiliated in every state!
